Hello, my name is Ben Lake. I am a professional singing teacher based in Norwich, offering singing lessons to students of all abilities across a wide range of musical genres.
I am a classically trained singer, with interests in opera, musicals and helping my students develop their vocal ability. I teach all singing styles, including pop, rock and contemporary styles - welcoming complete beginners to attend my lessons as they start the journey of learning how to sing.
I am able to draw on many years of teaching experience to help my students to develop their singing ability, enabling them to build vocal strength, increase range and promote confidence in their voice. My lessons are individually tailored to each student, creating a course of lessons that is suited to each learners unique voice and learning requirements.

I am keen to ensure that my students learn through the music that they are passionate about. Although I have a particular interest in classical, opera and musicals I am able to cover genres including pop and light rock to help you develop into the singing you wish to be.
In our lessons with will combine learning songs alongside developing an understanding of key vocal exercises that will help you to gain control of your voice.
Lessons are pay-as-you-go, weekly, fortnightly or as suits you.

As a professional singer for nearly 30 years I have had so many wonderful experiences and learnt so much along the way. Singing is not only my job but a passion and life force for me and in the last few years it has given me great joy to share my knowledge with my students of all ages. Developing your vocal strength
When a note is sung, but the sound is dry, croaky or uncontrolled it often causes the singer to loose confidence. By building vocal strength you will hit the note you want, with a pure clean sound.

Using exercises that I have developed over many years I can help you expand your vocal range, ensuring that you don't strain your vocal chords when singing high notes.

Whether you are starting out or experienced, my style of teaching is to help you gain confidence by knowing you are doing it in the right way. I’m a practical teacher that listens to what you are doing and nurtures and guides you to a better technique and performance in any style you choose to sing. I teach the way I was taught and it has served me well as in international artist and west end performer for nearly 30 years.

The prices for singing lessons are £16 per 1/2 hour & £30 per hour lesson.
I teach my singing lessons from a home teaching space located at Cringleford, Norwich, NR4 7JL. It is a great teaching space, with all the resources we need for our lessons. I also offer online lessons for those students interested in learning via Skype or Zoom.
I welcome students of all ages to come to attend lessons, including younger learners and adults. The youngest aged student I teach is 6 years old.
Yes, the majority of my lessons are 1-2-1. This is a great way to learn, ensuring that each one of my students rapidly develop their vocal ability through individually tailored lessons.
Learning to sing is a commitment and students are expected to attend regular lesson slots, either on a weekly or a fortnightly basis. From many years of experience I know that students that commit to a regular lesson slot will progress at a pace that is rewarding for them.
